Prologue-Snowkit

Forestfire was having another spasm and she was feeling weaker and weaker. She also had trouble breathing; the pain was exhilarating. She did take the herbs, but it did not help. Riversplash was doing her best to help her deliver the kits, but Forestfire could see the worry in her gaze.

Forestfire kept bleeding and bleeding, even though her two beautiful kits right in between her forepaws, and she was licking them ferociously. It was hard to breathe, and she kept bleeding and bleeding. Her licks were becoming slower and slower. Whitefur, her mate came in the nursery."Our kits, our kits!!!!!" He suddenly stopped when he saw Forestfire bleeding, the kits in between her paws. Whitefur was astonished "help her!!!" Whitefur begged to Riversplash. Riversplash looked at her paws and muttered "I can't." Her words dropped to a whisper.

Whitefur crouched beside Forestfire. Forestfire looked at the snow outside. She licked faintly the white, fluffy kit. "Snow..." She said faintly. She then licked the grey kit. "Spirit..." Forestfire gasped. "My...Spirit...Drifting...Into...The...Snow...." Her head rolled back and her eyes dulled.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Whitefur howled, his paws stained with his mate's blood.
